The 12z 3k NAM looks like there could be some flash flooding potential for the northern burbs of DFW.

Delkus posted some really low rainfall amounts for flash flooding talk. Basically an inch.

It's a shame most people on here only care to discuss winter weather. We have the first big rain and storm event of the year coming up tomorrow into Wednesday, and there hasn't been a post in almost 24 hours!

I'm excited to track storms for the first time in a while!

I got addicted to checking regularly, so kind of a bummer seeing few posts. :(

I was wondering myself why there hadn't been more posts. I'm astounded by the strength of the low pressure system that's forecasted in Kansas this Wednesday. The Euro is painting a 970mb low. I don't recall seeing a pressure that low for a system in the Plains in a long time. The wind will likely be crazy, especially in the panhandle. There's going to be quite a blizzard North of the low as well. I'm hoping for a nice squall line Tuesday Night.

It's not as easy to have a snowball fight or build a snowperson with rain.

What are your thoughts on how bad it will be and where will the worst be?

Right now it looks like the strongest storms will be across west TX, with the activity gradually weakening as it tracks eastward. The storms could still pack a punch as far east as the IH-35 corridor though. Strong wind gusts will likely be the main threat.

Sounds like they will fizzle out before they get to me then.

Well I for one am excited for Spring and storms. It was a nice comfy 43 degrees today. Looks like I might get close to 70 on Thursday and I might have to watch the weather too.

I was wondering the same thing!(?) I noticed there were no new posts, especially with an upcoming large slight risk area in Texas. Glad you were able to break the streak! :D Looking forward to a good old-fashioned Texas squall line. My yard needs moisture!

I’ve been on regularly but was waiting for someone else to post...

Personally think any severe activity remains W of any of the big cities along IH35. Gusty winds and a quick 1” if rain, however is possible for areas along 35.

And yes, we need more people! I can’t be the only one all the time lol

The models trending away from a big event, both rainfall totals and svr wx, sucked the air out of my interest. This looks pretty run of the mill for most of the area.

Probably because it's going to be almost freezing cold. I can't see how storms would form in that.

In general other seasonal threads do not garner as many posters or interest as the winter thread. A good non winter Texas thread would garnish 100 pages. Maybe a bit more if there is significant flooding. Even severe weather doesn't pique much interest aside from a few because if there is a big outbreak there is likely to be a separate thread.

Yeah, with slowing of the timing and unfavorable trajectory, as I believe ntxw pointed out a few days ago, this really isn't meeting the potential we saw on the models from 5 days ago. I try not to entirely write off MCSs that move in from the west though. In comparison to the ones that drop south or southeast, the ones that come straight in from the west tend to be responsible for the majority of our damaging wind events. Without a supercell threat though, I'm mainly just interested in an opportunity to improve my lightning photography.

Yeah not sure what happened but this storm is a far cry from what it looked like a few days ago. Nothing special now. Much like what happened Saturday

Hope this isnt a sign of the spring
