Here it comes, D-FW snow fans! Only 10 days out - March 5. GFS even has a real snow profile on the sounding over D-FW. No warm nose aloft this time. OK, the GFS shows no snow accumulations in Texas, and the GFS is predicting only a brief changeover to snow as the precip ends (with surface temps 35), but it does indicate snowflakes.

IIRC we had ice in Houston on Mar. 4 sometime in the last 5 years or so. I am too lazy to go back and look.

Early March can be great in northern TX as deeper moisture becomes available if it can time up with a good -EPO.

My gut says that as March 5th draws closer, it will become more evident that it will be another cold rain even, possibly with a chance of sleet.

I have a new Chili recipe that I think is gonna be great. Was going to try it tomorrow but decided to hold off for what may be our last real winter shot of the year. Cant wait (for both)!

The 0z models are at least trending towards a disturbance in the southern stream to interact with the high pressure. At least we got that going for us?

Made it down to 27.5 this morning. Although this winter hasn’t been ideal to some, it seems like almost every morning has had a freeze to some degree.

1045-1048 HP is probably good enough in early March. Need shortwave to trend stronger but at least things are looking hopeful for a hail mary and onside kick recovery. Even if odds are low.

Very end of Feb into 1st of March looks to have some extreme cold potential, possibly the coldest air of the year for lots of Texas.

1st week of March will be cold (and potentially rocking) for most of Texas.... we should unlock the Spring thread early

Here is a DFW sounding for March 5th at noon CST. Definitely a snow profile with this event. No warm nose at all. Of course it's still pretty far out for the GFS to be correct. Euro is cold but dry for March 5th (mid 20s to mid 30s).

That is about as beautiful of a sounding as you will see for DFW. That would be high ratio big dendrite type snow.
