Since 2012 we have category been in decline for both Tornado and Severe weather overall. There have been singular anomalies (such as 2015 FW tornado region count being highest) and certain hail storms but the numbers have been on the decrease. In return, wetter than normal months, top 5 or top 3 months have been on the increase. For example Sept/October 2018 was the wettest back to back months in DFW History. And basically at least one month of the year we have seen a "Top 5" wettest month in there somewhere since 2015.
Some example of extreme rainfall months of late.
May/October/November 2015Summer 2016 almost top 10 wettest
June 2017 (summer 2017 is in top 10 wettest)
February/September/October 2018 are top or near top wettest for respective months.
For as dry as 2008-2012 was 2015-2018 has been equally as wet. Two very diverging extremes. Ironically during the dry period we had a LOT of snow and during the wet period very little. This shows you that warmer air holds a lot more water. So when looking at long term trends, if you want a lot of rain you'll probably end up with very little snow.
