Gulf Stream proves useless once again...I think the Atlantic might have environmental support issues this year...Isaac is in a prime formation area at a prime time and is sputtering...Tomorrow we'll see if surge is the threat over wind...

Yeah, I think it’s been obvious that the tropical Atlantic and into the Caribbean has been hostile all year. With the shear and all that Saharan dust that affected SSTs. Beryl and Isaac just found brief sweet spots to intensify.

???? We just had 3 Cape Verde generated hurricanes in the Atlantic at the same time less than a week ago and Florence was a cat 4 and landfalling on the east coast as a very large cat 2. How is this a hostile environment again?

That's not what I was talking about. I should've clarified. Those storms were north and/or east of the area I was talking about. Had Florence and Helene tracked the same way as Isaac they likely would have suffered the same as Isaac has. Just seems like the area below 18N and west of 35W has been hostile this year.

Well to be fair.. coming from Phil K we weren’t supppse to have a capeverde season let along 4-5 systems at once. We have lots to learn in view

Not trying to get off topic, but the area I was referring to as hostile was NOT the area in which Florence and Helene just tracked. I was talking about the deep tropical Atlantic toward the Caribbean, which I think it's pretty obvious is hostile considering what just happened to Isaac.

It has been misquoted. It was quoted as a storm of a lifetime for some areas in the Carolinas.

And it will be, I think people will be very surprised by the amount of damage she causes. Things are going to get ugly in a hurry.

Convective cap is just about gone.
Helicity picking up on shore, could see a number of tornadoes later in the day.
