Disturbed weather in the GOMEX
Lots of vortical hot towers firing off this morning in low shear.
Albeit LL Vort is weak, this may be a slow brew from a PV streamer.
Keeping an eye on this.

Yeah I noticed that as well. It's that time of year for sure and shear is low right in that spot. Though, there's a much higher area of shear right at the Texas coast.

Keeping an eye on low-level moisture.
Persistent convection could fill this in.
It may take time to develop if at all.

Strong convection to the NE of the 250mb low.
Good position to pull down the vort to lower levels.

I was checking this out this morning on TWC.
I thought they would mention it, but nope.

CAPE increasing.
Now up to 4500 flowing directly into convection

So what's driving the lack of discussion for this one? Is it the close proximity to land already?

Re: Disturbed weather in the GOMEX
700mb vort also consolidating from the convection.
500mb vort obviously coming down as a PV streamer from the 200mb vort.
Watching 26N 51W for the vorts to combine.
This could be a good case study for TC genesis from a PV streamer if indeed it happens.

Looking a little better today.
Convection picking up.
Improved surface convergence south of LA coast.

Lowest surface pressure was a ship report of 29.97 off Tampa bay area.
Radar echoes are upper level but some wind directions coming down with the rain might indicate a mid level circ?

NAM on Monday night was the only model really developing anything out of this. It still shows a bit of a twist, but it doesn't look like much is going to come from it.

I sure hope a little of that green hits the S.TX coast. We are dry as a bone.

The gulf sure is unsettled today and looks to stay this way through next week. Quite a change from how it has looked for the majority of the summer:
