Please do tell me if this is total nonense but is there any chance that area if it moves into the GOM could develop into something??

It certainly does look impressive and even more impressive than Tropical Storm Mindy. It's a large MCS that's currently over Texas and vort max energy swinging around.

However, if this was more in the GOM, then there COULD potentially be a chance of develop. It's on the tail end of an old frontal boundary and winds aloft would be quite favorable.

Check this loop out.

It's just an upper-level disturbance moving up the cold front over INLAND areas. Nothing to be concerned about. And anything looks better than Mindy.

Well actually, one of those moved over Houston a couple of days ago, drenching Southeast Texas with 2-5 inches of rain. It moved out into the Gulf and fizzled. Obviously as you see today, this did the same.
