I don't know, the water vapor map is telling a different story
http://weather.cod.edu/satrad/exper/?parms=subregional-E_Gulf_Coast-09-24-0-100-1&checked=map&colorbars=
It has wrapped itself almost entirely in dry air
That is all mostly in the upper levels. it has also wrapped in a whole lot of moisture. the core is completely surrounded by deep moisture. the upper level dry air can easily be mixed out if there is sufficient warming of the core.
so it is likely only a matter of time before convection comes back in a hurry.
low to mid level.

It is low on time though.

Re: ATL: ALBERTO - Sub-Tropical Storm
Convection continues to wrap but so does dry air. we're getting that cinnamon roll look. The storm is due west of me and you'd have no idea that was the case at our beaches. the seas are up as is the wind but it's not excessive. Once the dry air wrapped in the sky broke and the weather became quite pleasant. Looking at the satellite imagery we can see the Caribbean firehose is still aiming at us from the southwest so some heavy training rains possible for someone even as the system pulls away from peninsular florida.

I can't find a single trustworthy 12z and now 18z model that doesn't either strengthen it or maintain it to landfall.

Not happening it's mostly dead Jim. Unless it stalls for a lengthy time. Enjoying the sun and nice strong winds on Clearwater Beach
I can't find a single trustworthy 12z and now 18z model that doesn't either strengthen it or maintain it to landfall.
Dont think it will weaken, it already made it through high shear and now shear is dropping and water temps warm

Re: ATL: ALBERTO - Sub-Tropical Storm
COnvection is on the increase around the center now. but most notably convection increasing in the "dry slot" to the east and south. looks like the low to mid level moisture is winning over.
https://www.sfwmd.gov/weather-radar/cur ... conditions
and the center has wobbled and or drifted nearly due west of the advisory ..

Re: ATL: ALBERTO - Sub-Tropical Storm
Alberto is now in 10-15kt of shear in SSTs that support hurricane formation. Convection is going up where descending dry air has wrapped in, and RGB Airmass satellite shows that the tropopause is lifting in the CoC. Looks to me like Alberto should continue to strengthen modestly until landfall unless shear near land fails to subside.
It picked a good spot to stall out on its wobble, eastward is cooler SSTs, northward is more shear.

I trust a few sources... climotology, living here forever and radar. Be happy to bet you a beer on it. Doubt it will lstrngthen unless it stalls for awhile. Lotta dry air and alot of tightening it would have to do.
