Mid-Atlantic Winter 2017-2018
I know, it's still early July, but it will be Fall and then Winter before you know it. What are your preliminary thoughts to how it will go?

Re: Mid-Atlantic Preliminary Winter 2017-2018
Very glad that this thread has been made, here are my prelim thoughts about this winter...
-The current pattern is already favoring troughs to swing across the Mid-Atlantic, so maybe we'll get a fast-track start on fall, which is always cool, because the fall-foliage comes earlier, and that pleasant cool air is there earlier too
-There looks to be a weak Nino developing, which is almost an exact copy of 2014-15, which brought lots of intense coastal storms, cold, and snow
- Overall, a cold, snowy winter seems to be likely, and I don't know about you guys, but I love the snow and cold, until about March 1st, which is when I like it to warm up

Re: Mid-Atlantic Fall/Winter 2017-2018
I'd like to have discussion in here about the transition from Summer-Fall-Winter in this thread. Today it was about 71 and windy here on Long Island, it felt very much like a September day, and was actually quite pleasant

Very chilly yesterday, it only hit about 65 with lots of rain and wind, it felt like an October day. Today is also chilly and very windy, it was about 61 this morning, and warmed to about 66 as of now.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Preliminary Winter 2017-2018
Loving how cool it's been the last couple weeks!!
So I randomly checked out some of the climate models on TT while I was checking out the latest on Irma and it seems there isn't much in the way of cold-(er) showing up from Dec-Feb. Has anyone used these models before or know how accurate they might be?
Can't wait for Fall!

It was 55 this morning, and right now I'm wearing a jacket at work, as to the models I have no clue if they are good or not, but here is the CPC outlook

Today was a very nice start to October, 62 degrees, fireplace on, with the football game on the TV (AND the Jets won 23-20 in OT, it doesn't get much better than that ) Although it's supposed to get back to 80 on Thursday

Got 3" out of the first go, just a coating on the 2nd hit.
Looking like there could be something good coming first week of January.
