I'm not familiar with what you folks are talking about, what's with the tub holding water, never been in a hurricane (thank God).
For flushing, etc. if the water/well system goes down.
Remove the strainer cover, wad up a rag or washcloth, cover with saran or good plastic and stuff it down into the drain pipe tightly.

First band in Biloxi pretty decent. Alternating hard rain and potent wind gusts.

Highest doppler estimates I can find is 65kts.. and that is well above the surface where they should be higher.. def weakened.

Looks like we may be seeing a convective burst possibly refiring around the center.

Looks like the N movement has started in the last hour on schedule by NHC's track.

Ariic, would that decrease the wind field on the west side as well?

Pull your plotting maps out, 28.25N & 89.2W is the latest recon fix. Still moving NNW.

Re: ATL: NATE - Hurricane - Discussion
interesting too a real hot tower on radar and satellite.. that radar return is very intense.. but besides a couple light showers the entire west side is dry....very odd.

That's 8 clicks N 2 clicks W almost due N now;it has been running 8/4 a true NNW movement most of the day.

Re: ATL: NATE - Hurricane - Discussion
Based on the distance between the latest recon fix and the most recon fix a few minutes ago, it gives me a calculation of 338 degrees, and an average speed of 19.3 mph, so it has slowed down.

I would bet if one was on the dry side as you mention, their sentiments would not be as yours. But it is curious, as to why it appears to be so devoid of an intense rain reflection on radar.
