Looks like a bit of a greater tick west of North lately on radar

Re: ATL: IRMA - Hurricane - Discussion
Looks to me like an earlier location relative to Ft. Myers and a PROJECTED position that did not materialize. Am I missing something?

Tornado touched down in Ormond. Wind has picked up here in port orange. People have begun to lose power in Volusia county. The power went out for a minute here but it's back on.

Omg. Does everyone have to misspell Fort Myers? There's only one "e". Sorry, just had somewhat of a bad day here. But also a good day. Classic Florida hurricane was intense, amazing, and we were in the eye for 15 minutes. Little damage here but lots of power outages.
Surge question is not yet answered. Freshwater flooding here has subsided from 24" in street earlier down to 18". Glad backside of storm was rain free. Still windy. Hope surge isn't just late. No risk here but Naples?

Winds here at Jax Beach seem to be shifting from ENE to E...very strong gusts. Do not know exactly the wind speed, 45-60 If I had to guess.

Did an E fall off the name during a previous storm?

How are conditions right now in the Port St Lucie, WPB area? Quite important for me to know.

Backside of storm passing us now.
Pretty crazy winds. I didn't expect them to be this high.... I guess I forgot everything I knew about hurricanes!
The radar didn't show much "weather," so I figured it was gonna just clear on out! NOPE. We're experiencing some really good gales. Not too much rain, and I don't expect the wind to last too much longer, but pretty good wind right now.
Edit to add: I guess NWS says we;re getting winds about 45 mph with gusts up to 60.

Wow, judging by the radar, this is going way East of Tampa. I knew it would be East of Tampa, but I had though only a tiny bit East. So thankful, as J hav several friends who live there

It's clearly turned more NW but who really cares, the affects are the same for here in Clearwater to East coast to down south. So who cares about a rather diffuse center going over Tampa, Orlando or Lakeland.

One meteorological question: if the incoming trough merges with the remnants of Irma, then gets back over water and a TC forms out of that, would it still be named Irma or take a new name?
Yes. Still Irma. We had a similar situation here in Texas with Harvey and NWS answered that question.
There was a debate about that when remnants of Gulf hurricane Ivan crossed the eastern US,
entered the Atlantic, crossed Florida, reentered the Gulf and made landfall a second time.
