Yep. And he remains calm.

I also heard an officer that had been working to help rescue for 48 hours simply collapsed where he was standing. He passed out from the fatigue. Heard he is ok, thank goodness.

I did see an article with a pic of several cats in a big wire crate being rescued. I also saw many people with pet carriers - which you could not see into to know what was in it - and some of the reporters mentioned them leaving with dogs and cats.

My 6 rescues are here safe with me <3

How can you post a tweet? I have tried copying from the address bar and then enclosing it in the tweet tags button, but no go.

Holy smokes is Harvey trying to create a moisture fetch all the way across the moist zone to Florida as the bands rotate?

that's all I've been doing... post the link, highlight it and click the tweet button, OR, click the tweet button first and then paste the link in between the tags. Both have been working for me fine most of the time. I'm using a laptop, not mobile device, so don't know if that makes a difference,

Harvey. Great big sub-tropical look. Hard to imagine there won't be strong trop force winds to the east of where that large center makes landfall from this ex-major.

Sadly it looks like the deteriorating Coc is being drawn NW by the T-storms over Galveston.

I think that's just one vortex moving NNW. Main center is moving NNE-NE.

Oh, and 12Z GFS has 20" of rain from Houston to Beaumont NEXT Tuesday with another storm in the NW Gulf. Hope it's wrong.

I have to confess I thought the same thing. The dog pictures have totally dominated. Maybe wet cats look too mad / unhappy, not as photogenic. Or perhaps they're all in crates as you can't really easily leash a cat and they might be too upset to hold???!!!

I saved a cat that was trapped behind my home. It wasn't pretty but it was successful. I'm sure for their own protection, few pictures will be released just so people won't throw them back in. :cheesy:

Anyone heard from Southerngale? Got a text from her @ 6am -- her house was starting to flood. There is a lot more rain headed her way so I am concerned.

A detailed update from the Houston Chronicle, lots of info on the Addicks & Barker reservoirs, and various evacuation areas.

http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/ho ... er-premium

Sadly, there's also a bit more detail about the current total of fatalities, the number is creeping up:

The half-century-old reservoirs have concerned officials since Harvey started dumping record-breaking levels of rain on the metro area, leaving tens of thousands displaced and at least 14 dead, including six people in Galveston county, including an elderly woman on oxygen who died in her home when her electricity went out, and a Houston police officer who drowned Sunday in his patrol car. Six family members in a van were reported missing and feared dead in Pasadena after a relative said their van was swept away in Greens Bayou in Pasadena.

I'm afraid of what might be found after all is said and done.

The search continues for dozens of people still missing along the Texas coast days after Harvey made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane.

Members of the Texas National Guard are searching door to door in Rockport, where at least one person died and roughly a dozen others were injured. Officials told KZTV that as many as nine people are still missing in that town. Some 30 to 40 are missing in Aransas County, officials say.

"I've never seen anything like it and I'll never see anything like it for the rest of my life," local resident Robert Zbranek, who decided not to evacuate, told the Associated Press. "It was a real eye-opener."

Still many missing from ground zero.

Keeping that Houston officer in my thoughts...I really, really didn't want to see anyone killed by this storm, and to see a FR's name added to an already devastating list is a blow. Yeah, I'm a fire guy, but we're all a big family. PD is part of it.

RIP, officer. We have the watch.

She posted here this morning. I think she's conserving battery power. She related the same things about flooding.

Does anyone have a link to the model predicting another storm next week?

Tragic. Thanks for posting this. The size of the Houston metro has definitely pushed news of Rockport and other areas close to landfall out of the news, yet I know the devastation there is horrible. The vast area impacted so severely by this storm is hard to imagine.
