I would use the Flash Flood Warning issued as a rough guide. This should not come as a shock as it sounds like officials have been trying to get people to leave since Sunday.

I confess I'm not a big fan of Joel Osteen, but very glad to see this news as many shelters are already full, and Lakewood is huge...

Re: ATL: HARVEY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Harvey looks to be on the move, direction of bands changing. Unfortunately it looks like rain to the west of Houston might pick up again.

Looks like the rain is soon to stop in houston? All the rain looks west of houston now except for a little bit.

Sadly against my wishes the area of convection is shifting to its NW quadrant little by little towards Houston.

Re: ATL: HARVEY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
With Harvey moving NNE earlier then expected, the Houston area will probably have heavier rains longer then anticipated. imo

I've been watching this on radar. I don't understand. I thought Harvey was supposed to be moving NE away from Houston. It looks from the radar like he's moving more northward, which is why the bands are coming back into the west of Houston again. Is he following the forecast track?

Not unexpectedly, the pace and urgency of the news seems to be increasing... almost impossible to keep up with all the breaking stories. Sadly, even as the rains may begin to taper off in Houston proper in the next 24 hours, the floodwaters may keep rising as rivers crest, etc., and other areas further east may be hit harder than previously as the storm moves.
"Mass rescue efforts" still happening across a WIDESPREAD area!

Re: ATL: HARVEY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Continuing to pray for folks in Houston. This is just a terrible situation. After Mathew last year, many roads and smaller creek crossing had washouts. Now these washouts are covered by water and can't be seen, so folks need to stay off the flooded roads. My company has a contract with FEMA and we'll be sending folks that way in days to come for engineering and recovery/rebuilding ( we also have an office in Houston). We have pics of cars that went into these washouts and you would be very lucky to escape a car submerged in moving, murky, water. Stay safe and keep looking out for each other down there.
