AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN

Firefighters are battling a blaze at Franklin Barbecue restaurant in East Austin.

According to the Austin Fire Department, the second floor is heavily involved, and crews are going into defensive mode.

Check back later for more details."

For those unfamiliar, Franklin's is the state's #1 BBQ restaurant in the eyes of many. An iconic location in Austin where the wait is 2.5 hours and people like President Obama have visited.

Wonder if that's storm related? I've seen several reports of fires (Corpus, Galveston, etc.). If they are storm related, I'd guess lightning strikes, wind getting transformers, power lines getting knocked down, etc.?

Wow that news sucks about Franklins. I've admired the guy from afar, even though I could never get the quality of brisket he does.

I wasn't expecting to see the rain bands this far north already. Looks like DFW will be getting some rain today.

Widespread precip totals of 1-2.5" of rain in Travis County just in the last 3 hours. For us, it has begun.

torrential rainfall is happening in SE Texas this morning. That stationary feeder band from the gulf won't move much since Harvey has just about stalled. Some places nearing a foot of rain already

Does it seem like it is moving a bit more inland to the northwest than projected?

Typically means the 384 hour frame of the model...2 weeks out from the model run. It’s usually just a dream.

A few inches of rain. Likely a lousy labor weekend for outdoors

I haven't been able to get on so have not checked previous pages. I can report that I've received just over 4 inches in my 3 gauges since midnight, not sure how much sideways rain may have missed. The ground is saturated and water is flowing and standing in my yard. Rain has picked up in intensity since I started writing this post. Oh and the wind blew open the shed door and water is all up in there. I'm not even gonna bother with it for now. Small limbs down here and there.

Had rain early this morning. A lull late morning/early afternoon. Now picked up again. Have 2 inches from Harvey's moisture, plus an inch I got on Thursday separate from Harvey. Three inches in gauge so far, and counting. My backyard is ponding. Periodic gusts of wind with multiple tree twigs down.

I'm getting 45 degree rain at the moment too. Heavy band coming through.

Would yall mind pushing that band a bit to the southwest so SA could get in the heavy stuff? Mainly light rain there so far. Hoping for at least a few inches from Harvey.
