Using the increased resolution of the GOES-16 visible bands, you can probably find an area of higher albedo a little to the northwest of Austin. That would be caused by the reflection of my body while swimming in Lake Travis. :P Happy Independence Day!

1st radar returns popping along the Red River. That should be the beginning of the next round of storms for DFW.

Picked up another 1.5" last night. 3" in the last 2 days isn't bad for July. Hopefully this will help carry my pastures over until Fall.

Overall the DFW airport picked up about a third of an inch of rainfall the past 36 hours. A lot less than what short range guidance had, most of it this morning was to the north and to the east. Rainfall chances decrease the rest of this week, scattered light chances, with temperatures holding steady in the middle 90s. With high dew points so it will feel near or above 100.

In other news, the Arctic will anomalously get colder middle of the month. Perhaps that will be a sign of mid summer front intrusions but only an inquiry for the time being.

It would help if we could get a couple of big WPAC systems to recurve and bomb out.

Can't remember too many times over the years where there have been heavy thunderstorms in three consecutive overnight periods during the month of July.

North Texas Regional Airport west of Denison recorded 0.89 inches early this morning. Brings the three day total there at NTRA to 2.03 inches I believe.

Rain in July, what an interesting concept for North Texas. Next you're going to tell me that it's going to snow in Austin a couple of times this winter! :D

Another .50" of rain in Texarkana this morning. However, areas just to my Northwest picked up 4-6" last night and this morning.

We may get some outflow gusts from this activity developing northwest of us, before it completely disintegrates. We may not get even that. I'll take cooler temps than 100+ to get us out of this weather rut this part of Texas is stuck in. Feeling cursed.

:uarrow: Yeah it's quite frustrating. SC TX just can't seem to get any heat relief from rain. Unfortunately that doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.

The one silver lining with the rain falling in that area of the state is there is a pretty good amount of runoff going into the Colorado River for this time of year. If we have to miss out on rain here, I'm glad that it is falling in areas which in the long run benefit us by keeping good flow upstream going into the Highland Lake Chain.

:uarrow: It would be nice if it was occurring a bit farther south over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. It's been dropping like a rock ever since May.

Getting some very vivid CG out this way! Wish I had a camera setup that could capture this properly.
