But it was only a matter of time. :(

There will still be opportunities for popcorn showers I think humidity will be high especially closer to the coast. Long range though, not a crazy strong ridge but enough of one for hot weather.

This week will be nice

Yeah, we might as well shut this board down for a couple weeks.

Flora has greened up a lot from May with the June rains around here. I think that's probably the saving grace from something like 103-107 everyday for a week. We'll probably be in the 97-102ish range but the humidity will be a lot higher. That's the one thing that's been persistent with the heat this summer so far, it's been accompanied by high dew points so less raw heat but feels bad.

850s will be a little hotter up in the central plains so they might be at the 105+ type heat.

Been getting torrential rain for almost an hour now. Last I checked the rain gauge of was over 2 inches. Very slow moving (more like developed right overhead) storm over the South and central parts of Austin. Got some pretty significant downburst winds too.

Awesome! :) I was eyeballing that inching our way. Heard some distant thunder and just getting light rain/sprinkles right now. I knew someone was getting a pounding, but not up here. It fizzled south of 620. I'm just north of 620.
Happy for you, but also hoping I get in on one last chance of tropical downpours tomorrow.

I totally forgot this is the time in 1980 DFW hit 113, still the all-time high...

Weird how its in late June before typically the hottest part of summer

and hopefully never beaten either...

I hope not too. I kind of like to think of June like December. December is not the coldest month but some of the most memorial outbreaks (1983 and 1989) strength wise is about as good as it gets. Same for June and heat I think. Sun is very strong in June..

Or 1980 was just a freak anomaly. From the 23rd of June to 3rd of July daily record max are all held by 1980.

Yea it was pretty intense for awhile there. Recorded some videos on my phone. Ended up with 2.56in, that's on top of the half inch that fell just after 1 a.m. Just over 3 inches today, not had at all. Just might end up with an average June after all despite most of it falling in one day.

Speaking of 1980 out of curiosity I requested the records from DFW with NCEI. Bolded the temps. Number after the bolded is lows. 0s after is rainfall.

Just horrible :uarrow:

It is true though about June, the days are the longest right now... just as they are the shortest right at Christmas when the cold outbreaks of 1983/1989 happened....

What a glorious evening! Got about 2 1/2" at the PWC ... making about 3" of rain in 24 hrs. My totals are similar to what JDawg got. Liquid gold, baby.

The humidity has definitely been bad this spring and summer so far. I got an alert this morning from out local news station that the humidity will be on the rise once again. Maybe its just me but I don't recall the humidity being this high, day after day, during other summers.

We usually have some humidity but not usually like what it has been. When we shoot into the mid upper 90s (or higher) our dews typically falls into the 60s. So far its remained high 60s and 70s which makes the heat index much higher. Probably due to the good soil moisture.

Awesome! I've gotten roughly 0.3" since Sunday. I turned my water on this past weekend, so I was already prepared just in case this happened, and it supplemented what I have gotten so far. Looks like I was mostly in the "miss" part of the "hit and miss" on this multi-day event. Ah well. At least a couple of my Austinite cohorts got something substantial. :) I can live vicariously through you all.

I'll let you know if I get anything beneficial later today. You never know with these pop up storms. You think it's over, next thing you know you have 3 inches of rain in the gauge!

I feel your pain...MCS was heading towards SA last night and then as it approached Bexar county...poof. Quite frustrating. Definitely been more miss than hit there as well.

Granted this is over 300 hours out, but the 12Z GFS is picking up on moisture during the week of July 10th to the end of the run. Not sure what is going on there or what it is picking up on(?).

If this were Winter and it were showing blue blizzardy stuff, it would be model fantasy land. But maybe this is some tropical moisture fetch(?). Just hoping it's not a feedback flaw.

That's a beautiful run of GFS right there! :uarrow: it's fun and exciting to look at even if it doesn't verify.
