Check out the Western Gulf. There is a mid/upper level feature spinning as it meanders generally NW and is pulling some moisture from the EPAC along its Southern and possibly Eastern flank. Just another piece of the puzzle in an already complex and complicated forecast scenario.

Conditions continue to deteriorate as boundary collisions are occurring along the HWY 105 area of SE Texas. Getting a bit concerned that flooding issues may increase across potions of Waller/Montgomery/Harris/Austin/Fort Bend/Liberty Counties as rainfall rates of near 2 inch per hour are increasing. I would not be surprise to see additional Flood Warnings/Advisories coming shortly.

From Jeff:

Flash Flood Warning for NE Harris County around Lake Houston until 1100am.

Isolated excessive rainfall occurring across portions of Harris County this morning. Lake Houston Dam has recorded 5.96 inches of rainfall in the last 3-4 hours from slow moving to at times stationary storms. Influx of deep Gulf moisture is combining with an approaching frontal boundary from the north to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms. Storm motions at times have been extremely slow to nearly stationary and rainfall rates in the strongest cells have averaged 1.5-3.0 inches per hour. Activity will continue to slowly sag southward and the atmosphere will gradually stabilize by late morning likely leading to decreasing coverage of storms.

Main threats this morning will be street flooding where intense localized rainfall develops.

Another active day on Sunday with similar conditions in place.

The 12Z KLCH and KCRP soundings both showed ample moisture with deeply saturated boundary layer and big MU CAPE over 4000 J/kg. Add weak winds through the the depth of the troposphere, and you end up with nebulous storm motions focused on a boundary in the HGX area. Low level trajectories appear to be closer to the KCRP sounding than the KLCH sounding (20 kt low level southerlies), allowing continued storm maintenance. The result is some flooding issues.

Shot from GOES-16 satellite our newest weather toy! What a beautiful thing it is. Can't miss the Texas clouds, also the Dora-to-be below us S of Mex. We will be getting great shots of that little system with this new satellite should it become a hurricane.

I wish we could keep GOES-16 right where it is as a GOES-Central. It has such a great look at Texas and plains activity, as well Gulf, Caribbean, and EPac weather where it is right now. GOES-E and GOES-W can't provide what it is right now.

Yeah it's too bad they are going to place it as GOES-E in November. Atlantic centric always rules the roost.

GOES S is schedule for launch in the Spring of 2018, with GOES T in 2019 and GOES U in 2020.

Wish you guys in north Texas could share more rain with us in south and central Texas.

The complex fizzled out as it neared SA and Austin

None of the models really showed us getting much today. I think we have better chances tomorrow, Monday and maybe Tuesday.

But yeah if we miss out on this event too it's going to be quite dissapointing.

GFS still hints at an unsettled pattern towards 4th of July and maybe a tropical threat beyond that? Fantasy land though

Definitely doesn't look like any prolonged heat though.

Hang in there, Amigo. Looks like a weak surface trough attempts to organize sometime Monday near Brownsville. There are at least 2 upper level vorts that look to cross Texas through Tuesday before we begin to shift the daytime isolated summertime pop up seabreeze storms to the Coastal tier of Counties on Wednesday and beyond.

Earlier this afternoon after the rain stopped it felt pretty comfortable outside. Now the sun is starting to peek through some of the clouds and it's warmed things back up a bit and man it sure is muggy out there. Very soupy atmosphere.
