@RudyPearce - If you are in or around Crosbyton, take cover now. Tornado on the ground. Storms will soon hit Roaring Springs, Spur & Dickens. #txwx #lubwx

Storm near Abilene has me worried it's all on its own and it's getting the look.

Sounds like a well known chaser team has died in a car accident in TX today.

I've seen the video and know who it was. One of them ran a stop sign at high speeds. Also a live streamer for a major media outlet. Dark dark day for the storm chasing community.

Did they kill or injure anyone who is not a chaser? That sucks.

News out of KCBD is that all three were storm chasers involved in two vehicles and were not weather related accident. Two drivers and one passenger was involved.

Very sad news for the weather community.

The three names have been released by the Texas DPS. Kelley Williamson and Randy Yarnell (who were contractors for The Weather Channel) and Corbin Jaeger in the second vehicle. I won't comment on who made the mistake since that has not been confirmed/made public. Very very sad day for the chasing community though.

Actually I have seen at least one media report of the driver. I guess I won't name him given some sort of forum rules, but other than feeling saddened by the loss of life, I don't quite feel like he should be protected from scrutiny given the fact he took two other lives by running that stop sign in the thrill of the chase.

But I I don't know all the facts, nor have I seen the video (or want to) so I will just pray for the families as it doesn't really matter at this point.

in the video that cuts (if that is indeed the intersection in question) it does not appear Kelley made a decision to run the stop sign. it looks like he just didn't see it and his chase partner didn't mention it. He had been on the phone shortly before the event so that + driving through unfamiliar territory is definitely risky and unfortunately it was catastrophically costly today. Very sad but it looks like a terrible accident rather than deliberately reckless behavior.

Very sad indeed, that is all I can say on the subject.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued covering Travis County, the I-35 corridor and points west. I've been watching the cell that blew up near Del Rio. While there haven't been any tornado warnings for that storm as far as I've seen, there have been a few times I've seen hooks and even a tornado vortex signature pop up. There was some rotation about 15 min ago looking at base velocity and a slight hook but again only a severe storm warning.

I'm pretty sure you could put 100 Rhode Islands in that watch or 25 Delawares!
