Line is here much faster than anticipated yesterday. Thunder has been rumbling here for almost an hour. The strong cell near Wharton has my name on it right now.

Edit: Tornado warning with it now

I'm sorry y'all, but I've given up on winter. Although if you look at the radar east of the dfw area near the panhandle I saw some snow/sleet being picked up. It won't make it out of the panhandle though.

Indeed. Much faster than thought. Wow.
From Jeff:

Severe weather and tornado event underway.

Line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes moving across SE TX. Currently supercells over Fort Bend County showing off and on strong rotation couplets with current cell between East Bernard and Kendleton showing the strongest rotation.

Parameters in place for tornadoes. Tornadoes may be wrapped in rain and impossible to see so take warnings seriously.

Another update from Jeff:

Powerful supercell moving ENE through central Fort Bend County showing strong rotation couplet at US 59/HWY 99. Large area of 60-80mph winds extends south across nearly all of Fort Bend County. Damage has been reported in both Wharton and Boling, and Pleak from this storm.

This cell will be moving over Sugar Land and then into SW/S Harris County. This is a serious supercell capable of producing damaging tornadoes.

Take immediate tornado precautions if under a tornado warning.

I am a little north of it. (Edit, I am on the northern end of the warned cell) Wxman 57 is in New Orleans today, so he is not at work, but his office is 5 miles south of me. Very intense line

Picked up a little more than an inch at the Portastorm Weather Center in scenic southwest Travis County. Had a little lightning and thunder here and there but mostly just light-moderate rains. Looks like more coming this weekend.

Good work Rainmiser (JDawg512)!

Friends in SE Tx stay safe this morning.

As for me this is wonderful. Mid 40s raining, and the air is free of pollen! Count is low today and magnificent!

Im always worried about storms like this just east of DT houston, they seem to have tornadoes in that area often. No idea why. Typically, south of 59 they have them and East of Houston. Hopefully these storms will calm down but for the moment that doesnt seem to be happening.

Update from Jeff:

Damaging supercell producing tornadoes extends from US 90 south to near Pasadena. Tornado Warning in effect for E/SE Harris County until 1000am. Strongest core of this cell will pass between I-10 and HWY 90 and may produce a tornado at any time.

Numerous reports of damage across Fort Bend County. City of Stafford is currently reporting several homes and office buildings damaged along Murphy Rd and Greenbriar Rd. FBCSO has numerous reports of damage from US 59 along Crabb River Rd to George Ranch HS (mainly fences and tree limbs down).

This continues to be a dangerous tornado situation along and E of I-45.
