That's north of DFW.

When we refer to the DFW metro area here we're talking about the counties generally (and widely) accepted as part of the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Denton and Collin counties are part of that and, thus, they are considered part of the metro area.

The radar is lighting up. Especially up by the Red River counties. Big blob of rain.

2.26 inches of rain overnight at the Austin College Weather Station about 10 miles west of here. My backyard has plenty of standing water. Lots of thunder and lightning overnight along with a 49-mph wind gust at the airport.

Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday. I thought I would post a few little tidbits about the record Fall we are having here in NTX.

The Fort Worth office of the National Weather Service notes that since Sept. 1 – the beginning of meteorological fall – there have been only 21 days with temperatures below normal, and 65 days with temperatures above normal. (this is through November 27th)

November is +6.8 degrees above the monthly mean (AVG H-73.3 - L-54.6 as of November 27th)
http://www.weather.gov/fwd/displayprod?dfwnov16

So it should come as no surprise that, so far, from Sept. 1 through Nov. 14, this was the warmest fall season ever recorded in North Texas. (We are still on pace for the record)

December 14th is #10 on the record list for "Latest first Freeze of the season" http://www.weather.gov/fwd/d32data

Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 35. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. (it will be close let's hope we can hit 32 at the Airport)

With the rainfall we received today November is back in the positive for monthly precip. (Soil moisture content is important heading into the Winter months)

Hour 204-384 onward look very cold per latest GFS. There's a few days straight we don't make it out of the 30s in Montgomery County.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm safe. If the attack had happened an hour later I would have been on my way to Atmo class, which is about 2 minutes from where everything happened. Also I would take the 12z GFS for Ohio in a heartbeat.

It's possible that there could be a few flakes or pellets if precip hung around to the early morning hours.

What senseless actions up there. Glad to hear that our TheProfessor is doing well.

Still not a lot of changes to add on the pattern. The models have backed off a bit on the ridging up in Alaska but it's still formidable and there is still tremendous cold air poised to settle into Western Canada this week. It will bleed and in fact, the fact that we're giving up huge HP in the western/northwestern Rockies the Euro makes up for down the spine of the plains. I still think models tend to rush these things a little too fast.

That's still a near 1060mb HP sitting around.

I hate to jinx the possibility, but I am keeping a close eye on this weekend's storm. A cutoff low moving NE out of Mexico in winter often brings surprises. 45 and rain then dynamic cooling as the center of the upper low passes overhead often results in surprise snow. Not saying it is likely but it is something to watch wherever the center of the low tracks.

I just saw the news story about this. Another sad and senseless act! I don't get it. Anyway, thanks for letting us know you are okay!

I'm looking forward to cold rain this weekend!
:cold: :rain:
Today it started out breezy and muggy 60s with RH in the 80s. Now it's in the dry 70s with RH in the 20s and a good breeze. :flag: Feels like West Texas hit Austin.
