It always happens this way, once Florida is out of the woods seems like NC is no big deal, I come here to learn and that is one thing I have learned but wish was not that way, If you find somewhere that cares about us up here and can keep us informed please let me know....Good luck

Current state of affairs in Savannah close to the I-16 I-95 interchange. The IR on the camera I set up is just reflecting off the glass, but that just means that I still have power. Occasionally I can hear something hit the house and there is a constant not quite roar in the camera that was not audible before, so I am going to assume that is the wind.

Rain, Rain, Rain. That's likely to be the big story for N. Carolina as well the coastal plain of SC. If you flooded during Floyd and are still in the same place in southeastern NC, you should be concerned. For NC, I'm not worried about too much else. Perhaps some localities that are known to be particularly prone to surge from past events should be prepared for 2-4' surge, but I don't know what those in that part of the state.

I have no idea, I am in Raleigh, NC. I just set up my baby monitor looking outside before I left.

In almost every track and coastal bathymetry scenario, cyclone moving directly at a coastline produces a higher surge, though perhaps over a smaller area than the shore parallel tracking system.

Just south and east of you near Clayton. Looking a lot like a wet breezy weekend for us.

I'm not a meteorologist, I'm an electronics engineer. While I can probably fix your toaster oven, you're not going to learn about storms from me!

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

Don't hate us. After a week of knowing a potential Cat 5/4 was headed straight toward us and prepping and obsessing over every 0800/1100/1400/1700/2000/2300 NHC plot and model run, we're 'caned out and exhausted and now having to clean up the mess and then get back to the work we missed the last two days. Most of us did not sleep much last night and some of us barely had time for a short nap that doesn't in any equate to a full night. Plus, the stress of what is potentially happening outside our homes and businesses for 16 hours. It's not that we don't care ..
we care, we just went through it..weds all day hanging shutters..yesterday dealing with it although minor in fll..today, taking shutters down

That's AJ's. It's on the back River facing west toward Savannah. The only beach/east facing cam was listed on the WSAV site. It's the tower cam.

You should be listening to your local authorities. Keep in mind a lot of posters are from Florida, some of those don't have power and still others are cleaning up. Right now there really isn't much to learn, it's drifting up the coast, close to shore, and surge will be an issue. If anyone is still in a surge zone they may have big problems.

Hey neighbor... I'm on the border of Fuquay and Angier. Every time the local forecast updates today it looks like more and more rain/wind will be headed our way tomorrow. I've been lurking here for most of the 2016 season and considered joining a couple days ago when the track was going right over top of us, but since I didn't I figured seeing someone one town over was as good a reason as any to join and say hello.

We had some fairly significant flooding last week just south of me, so personally I'm invested to see how that affects things around here. Beyond that, I was certainly more worried about Savannah as I have family just outside of there that wasn't budging, but I heard this morning the sheriff came knocking and told them to go and as a result they finally decided to take it seriously (thankfully).

Many have said it already, but thanks to all of you for keeping us so up to date with your thoughts on the storm and other constant streams of information.

This exactly. I'm exhausted. Hope everybody else downstream comes out unscathed. I lost 2 sections of fence and some landscaping. Feel lucky!

I think over a quarter of the S2K members, including our most active, are in Florida.

That too. I think there are ~500,000 Floridians (i may be grossly underestimating too) that are without power and that would certainly include some Storm2K members. This is actually the first major storm in over 20 years that I haven't lost power (sometimes for up to 4 days) as I am only 50 miles from the coast. And some have power, but no internet.

northjaxpro's power must be down.

The one time the persistent inner eyewall makes land looks like it might be Charleston....

Haven't had time to post all day. Working 12hr shifts with Matthew. One more tomorrow.

Wanted to ask - anyone here from the Orlando area? We're flying there Monday for a vacation. Was wondering how the city held up. Sat a peak gust around 60 mph after Matthew passed Orlando today. Looks like sustained winds 25-35 mph with a few gusts above 40 mph. I would think that such wind may have caused a few power outages but no significant issues.

Can someone PM me with any reports from there? Thanks. Bed time. Another early shift tomorrow.

PS: May have to change my name here to "MatthewHater"...

Orlando Airport re-opens 6am...

I know somebody from Kissimmee who said it wasn't so bad.
