Yep, saw that too. Intense. I'm just northwest of WGV and the winds are bad.

The surge on A1A was 3 miles north of where Hammond Dunes bridge crosses the ICW.

It's made the turn and pulling away. Hopefully this is enough to spare North Florida and Georgia from any additional issues.

The pressure has been slowly rising and the winds are slowly coming down.

Water has breached/topped the dunes in Jax Beach and is surging towards A1A. You could go surfing on those streets. Looks to be towards the lower end of JB

It never made landfall in Florida, and there will be people griping about all of the "hype".

By my estimates, there was a long stretch of the coast that had a cat 3 eyewall just 10 miles offshore. What a difference 10 miles makes......

Also a NE wobble occured with the eyewall looking at radar. The eyewall is just 45 miles E-SE of Jcksonvilleeach currently.

Anyone on St Augustine or in the know please help. My bf parents refused to evacuate Anastasia Island.
Anyone know how high the water got near the ampitheater?

Sustained TS force with gust to 57 kt at Jacksonville NAS (KNIP) which is significantly inland. Windfield extending inland a little further than I would have guessed.

Really worried about downtown Charleston! With a possible landfall there..there would be about 6-9 foot of water on the ground with the surge. That would be just catastrophic.

Anastasia Island/St. Augustine Beach/Crescent Beach area. Very likely the surge overwashed the entire island 2-3 feet.

Isn't the trough supposed to lift it quickly to the northeast, offshore of GA, and SC?

Local emergency management reported on Twitter via a TV met that storm surge on the island was 2.5 feet above ground sea level.

You might watch the live coverage here...They continually talk about different areas and show live footage as well as video. They did say something about Anastasia Island earlier, and the flooding going on. Didn't catch exactly what he said about it, but they do have excellent coverage of all the areas in Fla as well as GA. http://www.news4jax.com/live/live-from-wjxt
