Checking in from Port St. Lucie. Myself and family are good here. No damage and no power. On generator now. Slight jog right and faster forward speed spared us. Hate seeing the images coming out of Jacksonville. That is a bad situation unfolding up there.

That was an INCREDIBLE run.

No regrets except for those suffering because of Matthew.

Just turned around on A1A.

DANGEROUS storm surge.

Miles of it. 3 feet deep and rising.

Back to the bridge then I-95 N.

There are limits and you must always know where they are.

Uh, yeah. I saw a video of cars being wiped out by the storm surge yesterday. Nothing to play with here.

Amazing how high flood waters can get in rivers. We have a river here in Texas that went 30ft above flood height last year. Still debris in the top of 100 year old oak trees to this day. But that was from fresh water flooding as I live a long way from the coast.

Wow. The all-time record at Mayport is 8.5 feet from the 1898 hurricane. Other than that, it's apparently never gotten above 4.54' (http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrogra ... gage=mypf1).

That is right . Matthew literally destroyed Dora's record. It is incredible and it is still rising.

Also, for those familiar with the Jacksonville Landing, the moving swayingng concrete dock in front of the Landing is taking some structural damage and water is bedinning to flood over portions of that dock on the St. Johns River.

Since we have record storm surge on the St. Johns now, there is going to be significant flooding in the tributaries in Jax ss well.

yet the girl on TWC said the Landing was safe and secure.

Based on what I saw, it is not destroyed, but there are a few portions of the dock had a bit of damage with a few of the concrete sections of the dock.

There is widespread. flooding going on at Jacksonville Beach. Reports are from TV-4 that flooding from Storm Surge goes inland all the way up to 4th Street. at this time.

Stranger things have happened. Gordon killed over 1,000 in 1994 (may have been more) and is still on the list.
