Feels fantastic. Have a day off today, enjoying the windows open and the cool breeze blowing in. Just great weather. The a/c is going to get a break for the next couple days at least.

Re: Texas Fall-2016

Same here in south central Texas. Sat outside downtown for lunch. Clouds, 71 degrees, a dropping dew point, and north winds 10-20. My goodness did it feel wonderful!!

We've earned this one...

I don't even see any sign of above normal temps for the next week at least.

You lucky duck. First, it is still yucky down here. Front is SLOWLY coming. Second, you get to run outside. I am stuck on the Alter G treadmill ( at least I am running...LOL) until next week. Must be nice. I still have to heal, but at least I am running....
Blowing my fans down that way though it is rusty from summer. Yeah I spend most of the summer on the treadmill but nothing beats the smell of crisp, cool air! It is inevitable sir, wxman57 cannot win the battles forever...
I know. I know. I just hate having to heal....but hey, I will eventually. At least the Alter G lets me run....7:15 pace and faster...

Re: Texas Fall-2016
Looks like the next big front will be around the October 4th-6th timeframe. Pretty good agreement from the GFS and Euro. Fall may be here to stay. Certainly nothing above normal before then.

.AVIATION...
A couple of surface boundaries were providing a variety of
aviation concerns at 17Z. A boundary near KUTS and KCLL was
providing IFR conditions at both sites. Another boundary further
to the south was helping to generate a line of scattered showers
between the KHOU and KLBX locations. Even more showers and
isolated thunderstorms were located off of the coast. The latest
high resolution models still indicated best chances for
thunderstorms from KIAH to the coast mainly during the afternoon
period. Cannot rule out a thunderstorm to the north, but think the
chances for at least isolated showers are better over or near
KCLL, KCXO, and KUTS. Another night of near MVFR conditions are
possible with a slight chance of LIFR conditions. Will like to see
what the next model run output has before committing to lower
conditions.

UPDATE...
No major changes were made to the previous forecast. Showers and
thunderstorms are currently focused offshore and well to the west
over Central Texas. Showers and thunderstorms should get going
across SE Texas early this afternoon once we reach convective
temps. With PWs remaining over 2" across much of the area, some of
these storms may produce locally heavy rainfall. Highs are
forecast in the 80s this afternoon. 11

Still have some light rain and drizzle where I am in Frisco atm. I wonder how rare it is to have a high in the mid 60's in late September? A twenty degree below normal high.

Ahhh yes, the midnight high. I forgot about that. And 58 is pretty darn chilly for this day.

Re: Texas Fall-2016
Models (esp euro) is still advertising a backdoor type front later this week. While daytime mid afternoon highs may not be cool as today (thanks to cloud and CAA) the actual airmass is drier and even more fall like and lows may reflect it. Maybe a quick warm up and another trof but that is well beyond 7 days

Re: Texas Fall-2016
It finally got cool here in Ohio, we spent the day in the upper 60s. It looks like that cutoff low will sit right over Ohio this week and our temps will mostly be in the 60s.

Looks like you Austin folks are getting some nice rain this morning.
We are just to the north of the rain currently in Austin. JDawg may be getting something. My parents and brother are in SA. They are on a hill, and brother just north of airport. Curious to see how they are doing and what their totals are later.
I'm satisified at least. Got 1.74 in which is just fine, not too much, not too little. Feels great outside but my allergies which have been causing me problems for awhile are even worse today. Ragweed may have been washed out but assorted mold and Alternaria spores have blown up so it's just going from one kind of sinus headache to another.

It did not get above 69 here at house today. With over an inch of rain, beautiful Fall weather!

Re: Texas Fall-2016
Great chamber of commerce weather the next 7 days. Good for picnics or if you have outdoor plans. Really gets you into football gear. Or you could do some early fall/Halloween decorations outside to really get in the spirit. Either way make plans for the outdoors!
Slight warm up today and tomorrow (but will feel nice because of the lower dewpoints) into the 80s, then advertised backdoor type surge/front will bring it back down Thurs through the weekend.

Re: Texas Fall-2016
Clouds hanging on over the Austin area are keeping temps in the 70s this afternoon. Despite my allergies, I'm gonna take my dog for a walk in the hike and bike trail. Also taking advantage of putting up some Halloween decorations.
Might be 10-14 days before our next chance of rain but hope something materializes sooner.
