ATL: HERMINE - Post-Tropical - Discussion

Looks to me like it follows the right borderline of NHC cone and will be over water sooner than later. But hard to tell.

So what are the odds of this becoming a Hurricane once it gets back over the Atlantic in the next 12 to 24 hours since it hasn't lost any of its shape at all.

Well, if Hermine managed to get off shore the NC coast , it is possble it could maintain over the Gulf Stream. The question really would be if it goes Extra Tropical, there is some thought that Hermine could transition back to tropical again.

But, my thinking is that the cyclone is moving on a northeast header now, following and going right upalong Interstate 95 . so, I think Hermine will stay inland and provide rain and gusty winds in the Carolinas and into the Mid Atlantic region.

From what wxman57 was saying sounds like it is pretty good but that was with a stall off of Maryland.

NHC shows it becoming a hurricane again briefly in the latest cone track projection at 8AM on Monday.

Looks to be right about on track to me. That zoomed in view is kind of deceiving. Look at a more zoomed out view and you can see the overall NE motion.

Fun overnight in Jacksonville. Worst was around 4-6am. Looks like Central and North Florida still has to deal with the trailing big band before we're done.

I'm watching what appears to be the center of circulation just west of Savannah.

Yeah that tail end from Hermine extends southwest well down into the Gulf of Mexico and that band will continue affecting these portions of the peninsula the rest of the afternoon.

Missed the worst of Hermine here ( didn't want to but sleep took hold arg!) but the heavy winds woke me up from time to time. There was a tornado warning at my locale at 11:15am but family and friends there are safe. It' s still gusty here for now as the last rain band comes through.

Wind is blowing very hard right now...as high as it's been all day. I know because I've been watching on my porch outside since 7:00am.

Kicking in here in Jacksonville Beach. Solid 40mph winds. Should fluctuate around there through the early morning. I'm gonna take a nap and check up on the storm in a few hours.

Yep, it sounded that high at St. Augustine (wish I saw them measured though). I was up just before the worst of it it but those gusts sounded very powerful.

Here in SWFL. we are getting a good soaking from a feeder band. It's amazing how far these storms can reach in drawing moisture in as it's several hundred miles from here. This band looks to be reaching down past Cuba and another part out past the Yucatan pen.

And that is the scary part because they could be having a Cat 1 hurricane sitting out there for a few days causing the tides to get higher and the waves to get higher causing a lot more damage to an already damaged area.

After all my dedicated watching from here in Biloxi, I got not a drop of rain or a hint of a breeze. Heat index of 104°. Hermine has been a teaching storm I think. One you shouldn't take lightly down the road. Be safe if you are in the path.

Not a peep about it here either! I talked to my buddy about this as he has access to talking to the DPW of the village I used to live in, he had absolutely no clue, but since I talked to him he is now talking to them and they are making preparations, but that is only one minuscule village on the South Shore of LI, this is going to be one heck of a storm if people are really this unprepared, although I do think the newly issued TS Watch is starting to wake people up a bit
