Just landed in Phoenix from Houston. What an incredible lightning show for the first half of the flight. At 36K you can see the storms coming from a long way as well. Had a similar experience from Denver to Houston in April once but wasn't as enjoyable since we had to fly THROUGH it. Awesome experience.

Today may just be the beginning... the GFS has over 14" of rain at DFW through 384 hours, and more than half of that falls after this week. :double:

Got to work early today and checked out the radar. Looks very wet. Very excited to see this rain move in.

I saw that once over Ohio/Pennsylvania somewhere. It was right at Dusk so there was still enough sunlight to see the cloud tops, but dark enough so that the lightning showed up well. Looked like some kind of giant pinball machine with the bumpers/towers lighting up.

Latest Euro and GFS not nearly as widespread with the heavy rains over Houston, and shifted the heavy stuff mostly to the SW towards Jackson/Wharton/Matagorda counties.

DFW has picked up about 1.5" of rain this morning

More development should occur this afternoon in Central Texas and stream northward and eastward again. That will be the main show for the I-10 corridor.

Starting to hear thunder. As ready as I can be, rain gauge emptied, car in garage. Just wish I'd mowed lol.

Hopefully all we get is rain.

Edited 2:41pm

Still hear thunder, saw a bit of rain. Storms so far staying east and west of us.

Dog getting stressed which hasn't happened in a while, put her in Thundershirt

Heavy rain with thunder at times. 1.52 inches and counting. Seems to be training over us. Dog has Thundershirt on, but still panting like crazy in her crate. She is going to hyperventilate.lol

I can see lightning in your direction, NW of us.

We don't crate during storms, we let her go where she wants as long as it's inside.

Wow. We got some actual rain, but not storm.

Our pup prefers to be as close as possible when she is scared. So I put a blanket on the sofa and let her snuggle. Sometimes she has to be in a lap. Right now she is on my foot.

GFS now has the greatest totals in two areas, one from Montgomery County into San Jacinto County, and the other along the coast in Matagorda County. Like others have said, the global models are pretty much pointless to pinpoint exact locations, but the common theme is a heavy 15"+ somewhere, and it keeps skipping around from run-to-run.

There's definitely an outflow boundary in central Texas, as marked by the drop in temps from the 70s down to the mid 60s. I think there is a pretty good chance this could focus more convection tonight.

3.66 on our electronic gauge. 0.09 was on the gauge at 1:30pm today. So a little over 3.5 inches since 1:30pm up here.
