The flash flooding threat seems to be increasing for north TX including DFW. It's been raining pretty heavily here for several hours and looks to continue for another several hours with heavy rain continuing to stream in from the southwest. Many roads have standing water, and the ground can't keep up because there is standing water in most grassy areas. I think I read in one of FWD AFD's recently where they mentioned that flash flooding would be an even bigger risk because of the recent freeze. And this is only Round 1. Stay safe out there this weekend

It's going to fall tonight. Some more heavy rain is moving into the big airport. And then some...

6-8" will come easily, most areas around the metroplex are already reporting 3+ inches. DFW is just shy of 3 inches and a few hundredths short of the record at the midnight reading (likely surpassed by now). It is just ripping rain out there. Most of the models were suspecting this band tonight a little further north and west but it's sitting over the I20/I35 corridor

As of 12:14 AM CST DFW airport recorded 53.56" of rain for the year. This sets our all time record for highest rainfall in a year! #dfwwx
2015-2016 El Nino is one for the record books in North Texas. In what began as a series of ice/snow storms stemmed from the beginnings of the subtropical jet (WWB that got the Nino cranking) in February/March.

Yep, happens almost every time with an Arctic front coming down the Plains. For Tyler, the NAM is strangely slowing the front to a crawl east of Dallas. Showing it not getting to Tyler until midnight. Hi-Res models show just after noon. We are going to have some pissed off shoppers around town today that don't expect the cold until evening.

Far North Dallas. 4.5" in the rain gauge (need to dump it out). The cold came by so fast the interior of my windows are fogged.

The old record from 1991 is going to get obliterated. And we still have an entire month to go. Goodness.
