If that last report of 880 mb is true, WOW, we have all stayed up late to witness the most historic storm ever on record in the Western Hemisphere!!!! We just have to see if NHC makes this official.

Still a waiting game. The post analysis of Patricia is going to be one fascinating study people.

What a night!!!!!!

Yes. But I think if conditions persist and it somehow looks better than it already does, they'll honor that SFMR.

Strongest Western Hemisphere cane with the fastest 24hr intensification on record. Blew Linda out of the water and has pushed 2015 as the second highest ACE hurricane season on record. All this should be confirmed by the next advisory.

Also, that's a drop of 40mb in 6 hours, and 78 mb in 12 hours.

Welp... I didn't even think it would go sub-900. I definitely didn't think I'd be witnessing the demise of Wilma's record this evening.

Patricia is now officially the strongest tropical cyclone ever in terms of wind. While many of other competitors did't get modern recon...

And she isn't done yet, still intensifying!!! Each pass has shown her continue that process. It is too bad we don't have another plane on the way in. 870s imo may not be out of reach.

Just put all that in bold Hurricane CW. I am off to bed utterly in complete awe!! I have observed weather for the better part of over 30 years and have never been completely left speechless by any weather event like this one by Patricia tonight/early morning. Patricia is the new new gold standard bearer for all tropical cyclones in the Western Hemisphere , which based on all the Recon data we have seen tonight should be made official by the NHC by their 5 a.m. advisory!!!

1 am Friday (Jalisco): Probably the strangest day in the history of my chase career. Recon data show Hurricane PATRICIA is now the strongest hurricane in the history of the E Pacific, with winds of 160 knots (185 mph) and a pressure of 892 mb. And it's now forecast to become the strongest landfalling hurricane in this basin. This is definitely not what I signed up for when I left L.A. last night. This is just... whoa. Now I must sleep. I may rethink our chase strategy in the morning-- because this just went from conventional warfare to nukes. This is a whole new game. P.S. Big thanks to everyone for the well wishes-- they mean a lot to Erik and me during all those lonely hours on the road.
