It is hard not to have your eye drawn to the area under Cuba, like a fly to the light

Yes it's blowing up tonite. I mentioned earlier that this was the only area that had much of a chance against the shear.

Had a nice light show from my 5th floor dorm as that batch of squalls moved through. Lots of lightning. I assumed the thunder was louder but the soundproofing is pretty good in my building

Really has been thundering more than anything. That second piece of energy south of cuba seems to be vigorous or maybe its just DMAX.

After staring at the Miami radar for a while, you can see how these individual cells blow up right before coming onshore. Looks like the rain is gonna let up for a while only to come back shortly thereafter.

Wow some intense thunderstorms all evening. More then we have had in quite awhile. The drought should be sufficiently over or close to it after this "storm."

down around 10 inches, unlikely this completely busts the drought but it will help for sure..interesting setup today, been lightning non stop since 10 last night....be really interesting if we could get some heating today but thats unlikely

I've been shaking like a scared puppy all night, hiding under my blanket.
I've just never heard so much thunder and I've lived in Miami my entire life.
Here's some info about power outages, http://www.fplmaps.com/ It's going between 10-17k without power, very sporadic and the outage aren't lasting long.

I have no clue what I'm talking about, this is a FORUM not a weather station, please don't listen to me and base your actions on what the NHC says.
Re: ATL: INVEST 90L - ERIKA Remnants - Discussion
South Florida wanted rain so they are getting it.
The ULL over NOLA moved NE a little and the associated trough is fanning up convection from whats left of Erika. Appears to be a broad shallow area of low surface pressure south of Cuba as well. Once the shear lets up there probably won't be much lift there.
Should act as a moisture well for those thunderstorms over South Florida.

Intense lightning, as stated by others. Constant all night. Just getting a break now. walked the dogs and the sky had that "red skies at morning" look.
