May be last update map we see from NHC

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Surface observations from Cuba and reports from an Air Force
Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft suggest that Erika is degenerating
to a trough of low pressure. If subsequent data confirm this,
advisories will be discontinued later this morning.

I think out of respect to people suffering in Dominica and 20 people dead there, along with the terrible conditions going on right now in Haiti and DR, lets just pass on the idea of bringing Bones out for this storm. I don't think we should be making this laughing matter when Erika has left a deadly wake
people. Think about what I have posted here to conclude my point.

If Erika still has a weak LLC it is naked right now, per recon's finding so far.
It is racing WNW.

I don't understand the graphic. It says it is moving WNW at 20 yet the cone has it diving to the SW. What gives..

Was about to post the same question. Convection appears to be trying to build near the new "center." Can she hang on?

Well Erika finally left the Caribbean (officially). I'm hoping it got enough Hispaniola Shock to prevent it from pulling more surprises. Hate the fact it comes at a huge cost for Haiti, though.

With the new position, looks like Florida is going to get that rain.

Pro Dead: Exposed, Bad Info, Split System

Pro-Not Quite Dead: Very Recent Burst of convection on east side of new "center", SMFR Winds, large size

Recon hasn't ventured close to where the 8AM position is, is it the Cuban political wall?

Recon should be able to find a wind shift but not a closed circulation as it goes through the naked vorticity racing WNW away from the convection.

I think recon is return home. Is Cuba preventing it from flying more closely to the Cuba coast? I would like to see how it looks like there.

That is because they don't make a new track forecast for the intermediate advisories. Instead, they use the track forecast from the previous full advisory and just update the position which results in such funny graphics, especially when a system relocates or wobbles a lot.

If it would been returning already it would been gaining altitude already. I would think they can get closer to the Cuban Coast, since Int'l space is fairly close to their coast and new diplomatic relations.
