The upper level high does seem to be bridging over the gulf.
And there is a cyclonic rotation can be seen in the NE gulf radar echoes.
Same stalled front so its worth keeping an eye on IMHO.

ANYTHING in the GoM this season is worth watching IMO, especially since it's an El Niño year and that favors Gulf development. A storm in the last El Niño season that comes to mind is TS Claudette(2009) which quickly spun up off the West Coast of Florida before heading swiftly NW into the FL Panhandle a day or two later in mid-August back in 2009.
