Mesoscale Convective Vortex pushing north towards DFW.

@wfaaweather: Lots of questions about the "hurricane swirl" in Hill County. It's called an MCV. Means more rain/lightning for DFW! http://t.co/V06WiJADcF

40Ft and rising at Blanco river. Flood stage there is 13ft, isn't the city of San Marcos at the end of that river? You'd gotta think eventually it's going to rush to town with that much water.

I'm saving all these warning maps, this is the big one for the Plains. Seeing those freaky strong widespread returns in far south Texas eariler and that perfect bow echo that went past Austin, the line of storms that didn't move much in OK, no words.

We are living through something very unusual. Years from now we'll look back reading NWS articles about the Flood of 2015. When dramatic drought and extremely low lake levels in the matter of months quickly went the other way. April broke way and May the skies opened and relentlessly rained for days on end. Near stage 5 restrictions in the Falls to evacuating thousands of homes in the very place that was dry as a bone. Will be quite a read.

I'm reading it right now, and most know this is a historic disaster underway. I'm sure we all remember what was said back in the drought dominate period of 2011, that droughts ends with floods almost always (I'm leaning towards always) and that it will come. No shock, its here and ready to fling many years worth of rain on this region in a ridiculously short time. Sometimes weather can be just too predictable, this being one of the most.

So how does this look to compare to all those dates being mentioned (1957, 1991, etc.)? When I peer at the warning map for the US, it reminded me of April to early May 2011 only east so I checked an image of that and it was much larger in scope on April 27 of that year, but that was due in part to all the melting from the top and the rivers being swelled, this is a bit different. Same for Nashville 2010, Calgary 2013, Colorado 2013 or 2014?, Detroit 2014.

Someone needs to get a webcam on that river stat (perched high in a tree). I searched and didn't find any, seeing that river rise was it 11 feet in 30 minutes on camera would be extraordinary. BTW, the stats on this are the most insane for 2015 flooding in the US, not the world though (yet) (Chile already got that one in April).

Texoma is on the threshold of breaching it's spillway level for just the fourth time since it was impounded in the mid-1940s.

Current lake level as of 2:49 a.m. is 639.74 feet above sea level.

It's horrifying to know how bad the flash flooding is to the south of Austin right now and to go to the radar and watch that second MCS steadily march on in the direction of those rivers/towns. :(

Can't imagine how bad the news might be coming out of those areas in the morning.
