Only in Texas is this possible at the same time.

Down to 37 here. Looks like we could hit the freezing mark well before midnight. By the way, where is Porta?

Heavy sleet right now. Trees have a bit of a glaze on them from the freezing rain earlier. Winds are picking up...I really hope this is the end of the freezing rain.

The temp here is 27 with a cross between sleet and snow accumulating on grass and cars. The wind is also crazy blowing. My NWS forecast changes every time I look at it. Very interesting stuff. :D

NW Austin is down to 37, but the rate seems to be slowing a little bit. In the last hour we're down 3.5 degrees.

Still think we have a good shot to drop below freezing before 10 pm.

PS >>> Intellicast interactive radar shows us right on the dividing line between Sleet/Ice and the Snow line. Looks from personal observations that this is holding true.

radar is really beginning to fill in from northeast of mckinney all the way down to Stephenville. Nice backfill regenerating down there moving northeast , moderate sleet/freezing rain falling here in Frisco with a 28 degree temp. Looks like there won't be much of a lull after all. I'm hoping the freezing rain transitions soon, hate to endure more tree damage, had enough last winter.

I'm in the only dry slot out there, basically Heath, to Mesquite down to Waxahachie. Just north of me is lots of sleet.

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0120
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0753 PM CST WED MAR 04 2015

AREAS AFFECTED...NCNTRL TX...NE TX AND SW AR

CONCERNING...WINTER MIXED PRECIPITATION

VALID 050153Z - 050800Z

SUMMARY...FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS
EVENING FROM NCNTRL TX ENEWD INTO SW AR. LIQUID-EQUIVALENT
PRECIPITATION RATES SHOULD REACH A TENTH OF AN INCH PER HOUR WITHIN
THE HEAVIER BANDS.

DISCUSSION...THE LATEST SFC ANALYSIS SHOWS A COLD FRONT EXTENDING
FROM THE TX COASTAL PLAINS NEWD INTO NCNTRL AR. BEHIND THE FRONT...A
COLD AIRMASS IS SETTLING SWD INTO THE ARKLATEX REGION. THE FREEZING
LINE IS CURRENTLY LOCATED FROM LITTLE ROCK AR WSWWD TO NEAR
DALLAS/FORT WORTH. THE AREA SOUTH OF FORT WORTH IS JUST ABOVE
FREEZING WITH SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER THE
TOP OF THE COLD AIRMASS. THIS ACTIVITY IS ASSOCIATED WITH WARM
ADVECTION BENEATH A SUBTROPICAL PLUME OF MID-LEVEL MOISTURE EVIDENT
ON WATER VAPOR IMAGERY. SHORT-TERM MODEL FORECASTS CONTINUE TO
SPREAD SHOWERS ENEWD ACROSS THE ARKLATEX WHERE COLD AIR ADVECTION AT
THE SFC WILL CAUSE TEMPS TO DROP BELOW FREEZING. THIS WILL RESULT IN
A CHANGEOVER TO FREEZING RAIN OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS ACROSS THE MCD
AREA. ALTHOUGH FREEZING RAIN WILL BE THE PREDOMINANT PRECIPITATION
TYPE...SLEET WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE LATER THIS EVENING AS THE DEPTH
OF THE SUB-FREEZING LAYER DEEPENS ACROSS THE MCD AREA.
