At the age of 102, he was one of the last of the true pioneers of tropical meteorology. You undoubtedly know him from the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. He and his late wife Joanne (1923 - 2010) contributed greatly to the wealth of knowledge of tropical cyclones that we have today. RIP

Great pioneer indeed. My condolences to his family and rest in peace his soul.

He was a 23 year old man when the Labor Day storm occurred.
