Hurricane Frederic - 35 Years On

Since it's 2014 and the Atlantic is hopping with activity......bwhahahahaha!

There's a local bi-weekly paper in Mobile called the Lagniappe, and this week's issue features a look back at good ol' Cat 3 Frederic (1979) 35 years later and how the damage from that storm impacted hurricane preparation.

Peeps that attended or graduated from USA's met program will recognize Dr. Aaron Williams's (Dr. Bill) voice in that article. He's a local met legend, in my opinion. Anyway, a fairly interesting blurb about Frederic, and I thought it might be a good read for people on the board.

Quite a hurricane. Below are a few still shots I took in the morning; after spending the height of the storm in front of a school between Mobile and Theodore. We estimated the wind gusts at 135 mph.
