Re: ATL: INVEST 91L - Discussion
91L just don't want to put some clouds on. Nice tight circulation though and as soon as some convection fires near the center we'll have a TD.......MGC

Still just a swirl absent of convection with random convection to it's south - my guess is that they won't fly today...

Re: ATL: INVEST 91L - Discussion
Shear from the north is still persistent and pretty efficient at halting convection from popping up near and over the center of Invest 91L this morning. Conditions are going to be better if this system gets itself a bit more west. At the moment there is a noticeable lack of any tropical overshooting cloud tops (TOTs) near 91L, and are pretty much all concentrated on that cell nearing the Northern Bahamas.

If sinks too far south, it may have trouble turning north and may loop di loop?

Circulation on this system is very vigorous...Convection looks to be popping and trying to wrap as well. If the northerly shear lessens just a touch and with the Gulf Stream underneath we might be en route for lift off. To me it looks better in the last few visible frames.

You can get some idea of the surface pressure gradient from the velocity of the low clouds. Near the very small center there is a circulation that could quickly go over tropical storm criteria IF it picks up some convection.
Tomorrow they should have an accurate track forecast and it might be smart to fly out then and declare a named storm. The public has attention span issues if a storm doesn't develop as forecast but they pay attention to named storms.
NHC gave early warning for this one, and any area of damaging winds is likely to be small so track is a little more important.

There's a "drought" in South Florida?
