Heavy Dipping Dots Sleet here in Baton Rouge. Frustrating when it is snow only 4,000 feet away. Darn warm nose. Can't it erode away!!!

Snow line is getting VERY close to BTR.

And BigB - with the rain rate the way it is right now, I'd be surprised if we DONT get .25". I don't know about your location, but its coming down very hard here!

Probably getting some of the heaviest sleet mixed with snow all day. Starting to accumulate more on rooftops, cars, grass, etc. Radar is filling in pretty nicely too I don't see us getting out of this for another few hours. The band of precip seems to be consolidating some and that dry slot is finally gone. Just make everything white and we'll call it a deal at this point, it's so cold outside!

I agree, make everything white and I will be happy. Snow or sleet...don't care!

Actually enough precip coming down to make the median white right now - with sleet, not snow, mind you, but its white.

If you look on the radar you can actually see the dry slot moving away to the NE. Hopefully we are done with that darn thing. I am still made at it for stealing so much good precip from us!

It looks like the southerly movement of the precip has slowed and a training effect may be starting.
There are also more returns showing up in SE Texas which may prolong things a bit. Can anyone confirm what I think I am seeing?

According to GFS 12z, BTR still has .2" of QPF to go before we get around 1" of snow.

Gonna be fun!

Can someone tell me where you go to see how much measurable precip we got? Is that posted somewhere the next day along with official highs and lows? I meant to look for last Friday's event and forgot. Anyone know what we got then?

Less freezing rain, more sleet now. It's still coming down very hard. I give it another 3 hours looking at the radar. There's a decent shot at snow for a bit too!

Radar looks really good now. Filling in nicely and appears to be holding. Should get really good within the next few hours if nothing disastrous happens.

Y'all enjoy what you're getting up there while I sit and relish in my record breaking winter storm sleet shower. Received about 10x more last week compared to today :(

It looked like the precip on radar was diminishing earlier and the sleet/snow actually stopped for about half an hour, then it started up again and is coming down pretty good. I just checked radar and it's filling back in out to the west. NWS update said snow could last until about 3am. Friday's event was all ice. This one is ice, sleet, and a little snow!

Still steady, hard sleet. We'll hopefully get some snow out of this. Not as much freezing rain anymore. Roads are slick as hell though.
