Requested meteogram. Per 12Z GFS looks like mostly cold rain for Houma. Surface temps are pretty close to freezing, so this could end up being freezing rain or sleet. It does show a trace of snow w/ flurries starting around tuesday night just after midnight.

I just wonder. Models didn't want any part of the southern winter storm Friday. I wonder if the will underestimate this one too.

I assume you didn't get enough ice Friday? We had over 200 wrecks in the area!!! .25 of ice we can cancel that and just keep the sneaux!!!

PTrackerLA, what do you think is the outlook for Lafayette and Vermilion Parishes? Ice for sure - but any snow? How much ice are you thinking we'll get? I respect your opinion and thank you in advance.

Latest NAM still pegging our area for .25"-.50" of liquid precip. I'm hopefully only a quarter inch tops of ice and the rest snow. I think we'll all see at least some flakes but at this point we almost have to wait for the precip to start falling tomorrow morning to get a good idea. I stocked up on food (and booze) at lunch so I'm ready for whatever !

I'm ready as well, except that I don't like the idea of being out of power. I had a generator for the hurricanes and I loaned it to a family member who took it north for the winter. Hmmm, not a smart idea, I suppose. I'm hearing that outages may last from 3 to 5 days.

Really hoping the overall band of moisture can hold off and start so early. Get it overlapping more into the night hours for some snow. A repeat of 2008 would be awesome.

GFS and NAM are starting to differ on the warm nose. GFS looking more in favor of snow than NAM. NAM wants to produce a massive ice storm.

Goodness…lost under all the talk about precip, I keep forgetting about cold and wind.

Winds looking brutal tomorrow too. Wind Chill in teens all day, maybe?

18z GFS shows .25"-.50" of precip with 2" of snow right over Lafayette.

GFS output for Baton Rouge is .23 and all over within 9 hours. Much quicker which is why the amounts are smaller. However, not a bad total and it does give us more snow. NAM shows almost no snow for Baton Rouge and Lafayette, presumably because of the warm nose. I assume it would be all ice. Not sure what QPF totals it is showing. Anyone know?

GFS output gives us .31" of precip. Of course I can't tell you how much precip fell Friday because the sensor at LFT failed (AGAIN) but I'm pretty sure it was over .25". I don't remember seeing a model show anything over .10" for us with that event. I'm happy with .31" right now 8-) .

This is going to be fun.

00z NAM is beautiful. Hopefully someone can post pics. I hope it is right. I know NAM often overdoes the QPF so don't forget that but maybe it will be right this time! More importantly, maybe the GFS will follow suit? The 00z GFS will be the last model to really follow and then the event has begun.

Wow widespread 3"-4" across all of South Louisiana on the 00z NAM. Temps look colder too! This is a great direction you wanna see models trend if we are to get appreciable snow.
