Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
My house was rattling, and I figured out -- my condenser outside was rattling badly ---- because it was completely covered in about 1 inch thick of ice. I beat the ice off of it with a hammer! That was a new experience.

I'm only a few miles north of you in argyle and it's about the same here

Y'all must have gotten more ice than we did. Our trees aren't looking like that

Yeah, our trees have ice on them, but it looks like we got mostly sleet. That's probably why our power is still on over here.
I'll post some pictures in a bit.

So if I can direct our attention briefly to next week, the latest meteograms seem to not be nearly as bad as they were predicting 3-4 days ago. Austin's temperatures seem to have a lot of diurnal heating/cooling, which isn't particularly characteristic of strong arctic fronts. What's the latest on this event?
Cheers,

Yep. He also stated Houston would be under the gun for wintry stuff from December 24-February 1. Hummmm

Well miraculously our power has come back on. My thoughts to all those having to venture in this and work so hard to restore power and the emergency crews.
I did venture out a little this morning and here are some more pictures

And of course can't go without this. Hope it's not too hard to see, not easy on the fingers when it's compacted ice and sleet.

I thought Santa would be handling this situation a little better...

If you squint, you can see the lovely Cedar Hill towers...

Thank goodness there was so much sleet. If it had all been freezing rain, well I can't even imagine how bad it would have been.

The wind is blowing every now and then and you can hear the trees crackle when a gust picks up. It's very eerie.
