no they dont they stay on their guns and insist the atmosphere is going to cool and that the main event could drop as much as one inch of ice. anyway im in waco tx right now clouds to our west are coming in very dark snow clouds

I'm just west of downtown fort worth. The nearest weather station on wunderground says it's 34 degrees but I've got ice on some of the leaves on a tree in the backyard.

To clarify, they mentioned that a "cold rain" was what the GFS was showing for us. They do not believe that will happen, and they explained why they don't believe that will happen later on in their discussion.

I don't think the temperature will be an issue for the Metroplex. I believe it's just a matter of how much precipitation falls and how much of it comes down as freezing rain. If it's mostly sleet (which is what most believe) then things shouldn't be too bad in the morning. However, if the bulk of it comes down as freezing rain, it might get really messy.

EDIT: The temp at my house has been 32/33 degrees most of the day. 32 currently.

The issue isn't the temperature at the surface, it's the temperature between 5000-10,000 ft, which the models still indicate is in the 40s. The Euro, which had been forecasting 3-5" of snow across the Dallas-Ft. Worth area now keeps the snow north and west of there. Could see a few flakes, but don't look for any significant snowfall.

Yeah, I don't think snow was ever a main concern for tonight. I'm just worried about the freezing rain potential.

It's been 32/33 at my house all day. Little sleet and rain earlier but nothing major. I never get too excited until I see it falling. Been Charlie Brown too many times.

It always seems to be the events that are played-up that become non-events.... and the big events are always a suprise. Its just the way nature works. She doesn't like to be pried and poked. I always said its like the watched pot that never boils. The scientific side of me, however, says its fun to analyze things to see how they work and to gain deeper understanding. Its just funny how we spent 10+ pages here discussing the potential unfolding of this event, and we are no closer to knowing for sure whether it will snow tonight

To be fair, I don't think any of the meteorologists around here "played it up." They have explained all of the possible scenarios fairly well. It might have been a bit played up on here at times, but that's to be expected on a message board full of people who love winter weather.

And you have to remember, there is still the potential of this causing a lot of problems in the morning. The main event hasn't even hit us. It's better to be safe than sorry.

The main event hasn't even developed yet. But you can start to see the signs of increased lift by looking at San Angelo radar.

Event or non event it's a good warm up for the gang! After the last 6 Novembers If anyone told you we'd get an early start at watching something try to unfold this month who would've believed it? Beats the indian summers!

It appears the band of SW of dfw has done some organizing, but once again dfw is going to miss out on the heavier precip unless we see further strengthening.

Looking at 20z Hrrr, there is no way people in N & Central Texas could call this a "non event" just wait till the big precip shield develops tonight & moves through tomorrow morning. It has 15 hours out, the eastern 2/3 of the state covered in moderate-heavy precip.
