I haven't heard anything for probably an hour or so from any of the chasers. Where was Jim Edds set up at? Does anyone know? I don't think he was with Typhoonfury, or in the same city.

This is absolutely a nightmare. 195 mph coming ashore.

Eye seems to have contracted a bit after landfall on Leyte island: around 20km wide right now. Thus the max winds have probably gotten stronger. Local Tacloban media (unofficial portable anemometers) reported ~150kph winds before communications to the city were knocked out. Next landfall in a few hours on Cebu island.

I think the hard eyewall went in closer to the village of Tolosa a few miles south of Tacloban.

Me too (praying) as I have relatives through my wife in Ormoc City also. That's not to forget the other 50 million or so souls who may be at risk of one sort or another from this incredible storm. But Ormoc and nearby -- oh golly!

Massive storm surge just pushed into Tacloban. Ormoc City is next - any data there since the eye might go right through as it returns into water?
