Re: WPAC: HAIYAN - Typhoon
Haiyan has broken the wind speed record and now the strongest landfall record hasn't it, it's unbelievable.

There is a lot of traffic on here. This is by far the most active non-Atlantic thread I can remember.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Is getting rapidly up there but still has to beat Chantal,Dorian,Gabrielle,Ingrid and Karen threads. But by far this one beats all from this year and past years in the historical prospective.

From EVL
This image shows some of the islands at the mouth of the Leyte Gulf in the Philippines through the eye of Super Typhoon Haiyan. This imagery is of water vapor as measured in the infrared spectrum from the Japan Meteorological Agency's MTSAT geostationary satellite, taken at 2030Z on November 7, 2013.

Wouldn't the EWRC bring about weakening, perhaps it could weaken some before it hits although there's not much time for that.

Most members don't even know that any basin besides the Atlantic even exists.
I've only been over here like once before but this is historic and I am glad this forum is here.

I'll echo everyone else here and say that it would be nice if we had direct measurements of the pressure in the eye about three hours ago so we could know for sure what the minimum pressure of the storm actually was (I'd guess 885-890, maybe lower) but really, with a presentation like that and its proximity to land, I don't know if I would want to be the one in the reconnaissance plane. Then again, if all went well, that would be one amazing experience. Even more amazing if the sun were up and you could look out from the eye.

Colors of lost purpose on the canvas of irrelevance
Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

This is a historic day. I am beyond amazed at the power of this STY.
