Area North of Puerto Rico

#1 Postby Hurricaneman » Sun Oct 06, 2013 12:22 am

The models seem to develop this and send it towards bermuda around day 4 and turns it west towards the Carolina coastline at day 7, which means this may end up being an area of interest the next few days.

Western Atlantic Disturbance

#2 Postby Riptide » Sun Oct 06, 2013 2:00 pm

What about the system in the Western Atlantic, looks like it is on the way to becoming something in the long-range.
Perhaps an STS or weak tropical storm. There is some model support from the GFS and Euro.

Area is mentioned.

A WEAK LOW PRESSURE AREA LOCATED ABOUT MIDWAY BETWEEN PUERTO RICO
AND BERMUDA IS MOVING SLOWLY NORTHWARD. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE LOW ARE DISORGANIZED...AND ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS ARE UNFAVORABLE FOR SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF THIS
SYSTEM DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW
CHANCE...10 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE
DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS...AND A LOW CHANCE...10 PERCENT...OF
BECOMING A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT FIVE
DAYS.

AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE ONLY MARGINALLY FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT DURING
THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...AND THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...20
PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS...AND A LOW CHANCE...20 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A

8 AM TWO down to 10%/10%.

DISORGANIZED CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS EXTENDING SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF BERMUDA ARE ASSOCIATED WITH A WEAK AND ELONGATED
AREA OF LOW PRESSURE. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
UNFAVORABLE FOR SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL
DAYS WHILE THE DISTURBANCE MOVES GENERALLY NORTHWARD AT ABOUT 5
TO 10 MPH. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...10 PERCENT...OF BECOMING
A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AND A
LOW CHANCE...10 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL
CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS.
