STS, no rain in SA? You're kidding me?! It looked like a sure thing for y'all.

We received nothing here in Pflugerville, not even a drop.

I am watching some rain on radar this morning moving towards us from the south. As usual just when it reaches the Travis county line the showers are dissipating. At least it looks like the hill country is getting some showers and they need the rain as badly as we do. Good for them.

Yep!
0.03 here from this tropical gully washer event. Yeah, at least the hill country is getting some action. If anything, they need it to help fill our dwindling lakes.

Here is a good FAQ sheet put on by the LCRA about Austin and its metro area water source.

I'm trying to get by during this heat wave by reminding myself that in 6 months we could be talking about a late winter season arctic outbreak. For now, it's set oven, bake, repeat daily.

I like it when the NWS has a little humor:

"PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 258 AM CDT THU AUG 29 2013/
THIS FORECAST LOOKS LIKE THE PREVIOUS FORECASTS. EXPECT LITTLE
CHANGE THROUGH THE WEEKEND...HOT FOLLOWED BY MOSTLY HOT AND THEN
EVENTUALLY PARTLY HOT. "

Hang in there guys, just a couple weeks away from crisp mornings and gorgeous days. Meteorological fall is a few days away so let that give you some refreshing thoughts! Fall is arguably the most comfortable time of the year, we're almost there. Be proud that you have endured yet another Texas summer soon to pass. We all should get a sticker as an achievement every year to put on our cars "I survived hell and back."

I'm just really hoping that most of the cold fronts this year are accompanied by at least a line of showers and thunderstorms. The fire threat will likely be pretty high if we get a lot of dry fronts this year. I hate Red Flag Warnings with a passion!

I'm with you on that one! Those dry fronts may feel nice, but they really do add insult to an injured drought-entrenched area we are living in. Thank you PDO! Praying and hoping for moisture to pool and stick around this Fall with the fronts! :rain:

I miss the good, ol' days when we'd have an El Nino ... like the time I was trimming my Christmas tree outside under the carport of our small rental duplex, just married, in December 1990, listening to non-stop sirens as folks were being evacuated in the nearby Shoal Creek area of Austin due to high water after two weeks of nonstop rain. Ah, memories ... :(

La la land euro but first time in a long time since we've seen a map like this. Wouldn't that be nice!

:uarrow:

That looks more like one of those backdoor fronts and not a full-on cold front. Northeast Texas would benefit. Most of the cooler air would slide to our east. Nevertheless it would provide *some* relief.

It would be the first fall front for areas to the north and maybe flurries in the Great Lakes. The difference with this from others we have seen is not associated with a cutoff area of lower heights but source region from Canada. High pressure over Florida would shove the western area due south of the Rockies instead of SE. Cooler nights at the very least! But again la la land...
