So NHC gives it a 20% chance. That's about right. There may be a small window of opportunity for development as the system traverses over the Gulf Stream.

I certainly hope that Bahamas entity remains off shore the east coast of Florida as an approaching trough finally gets this mess away from this region and picks it up eventually north-northeast out to sea this weekend. We do not need any more rain in these parts that's for sure.

They think the trough is going to dig and pull it out. Probably the shear ahead of the front is providing a little lift to that leftover energy from Dorian. Only a very remote possibility the trough misses.

Notice they confirmed this area is associated with the remnants of Dorian - which would mean if it manages to becoming a T.S. again it would be called Dorian I would think right?

No clue.

I'm also not clear on the 20/20. I would think it should be 20% in the next 2 days and 0% after that, but perhaps 5 days accounts for the first 2, meaning the second number can never be lower than the first?

Appears similar to the TD10/Katrina situation. I would expect this to be TD Five/Erin if it formed.

Kind of interesting and or funny that the first five day look out is tested with the remnants of Dorian. If it gets picked up by the front, maybe we will finally be able to close this thread. Although there isn't anything else going on in the Atlantic right now. 8-)

Looks like we have something to watch after all, as some of us suspected over the last couple hours. Not sure how much weather (if any) we will get here in SE FL out of this one ... could stay completely offshore, could move a bit closer to land before eventually heading N and NNE. Hmm.

There definitely something trying to spin at surface in the last few hours by looking at the hr vis sat loop. It was not there this morning when I looked.

Well this came out of the blue. Will it still be named Dorian if it happens to develop?

If this does finally develop, and they give it a new name, I think my August numbers might be low. If it gets the same name I claim a July storm. :D

Convection, that should fire off over central Cuba in the next couple hours, should clear out what's left of the ULL which looks to be centered now over the NW Carib
