Hurricane Isabel and her movement

#1 Postby John » Tue Sep 09, 2003 6:08 pm

Hard to judge but I do believe we are starting to see more of a western component begin, I fully support the idea that Isabel has been moving along the Eastern periphery of the ULL. Since the flow around the ULL is also counterclockwise Isabel has been riding in it's southerly flow while she was East of that system, thus the WNW movement, now that she is more getting more N of the ULL she is beginning to respond to a SE flow. Eventually she will get caught in the Easterly flow around the top of the ULL and the southern periphery of the clockwise flow around the building ridge, this is where we should begin to see a true heading W. This system is no fish, there is nothing to pull Isabel out into open water, no trough. she is only moving WNW because of the ULL and that my friends does not dictate long term Tropical Cyclone movement.
