What happened to Isabel that didn't turn west as expected?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

What happened to Isabel that didn't turn west as expected?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Tue Sep 09, 2003 4:11 pm

Let's have a good discussion here about why Isabel didn't follow what the most of the models were showing and that was to start a west track and even a wsw motion.

My take is that the ull west of it had a good thing to do with the not west motion.

Eventually it will head west but much more north than it was expected.

My forecast all along

#5 Postby Vortex » Tue Sep 09, 2003 4:37 pm

has been all that tonight it would turn west around 20n. The models also most of them advertised the due west motion to begin tonight. I personally would of held out on some of the model verbage TPC stated at 5pm until 11am tommorrow if it hasn't turned west by then. Isabell has behaved almost as I expected to this point maybe a nudge furthur north. I fully expect the turn later tonight and it will be moving due west tommorrow and I still think the jog to the sw is likely.

Our mets seem a little concerned but it's early in the game..at any rate the state of florida is narrow..if the east deals with her we will too. :o Depending if she hits florida and how strong..everyone on the east coast keep an eye on her IMHO :o

Yes msbee I also hope that it goes fishing and not bother anyone. And yes we dodged a major bullet for the second time in a week.Hopefully the cape verde season closes more early and then we dont have to deal with those longtracking systems.

So glad that St. Maarten is safe!

We just arrived back from there on Saturday-our second home. After dodging Fabian, I was really concerned about Issy. Enough damage was inflicted in '95 to last a lifetime for that beautiful piece of paradise. Happy to know everyone is safe and sound-once again.

Would you happen to be familiar with an Arrindell Aviation there? I talked to someone there today about the storm. Told them all the effects would pass well to the north. You'll be fine there.
