New track map of Typhoon Dolphin (0822)

The previous track map of Typhoon Dolphin (0822) lacks the extratropical period, so I checked all JMA advisories between 2-8 December and made a new one. Here is the result:



It looks much ridiculous than the previous one, but that is reality.

In fact, I posted this at eight places—four forums, three social networking services and Wikimedia Commons.

Submitted by Hong Kong, it means the Chinese white dolphin.

It was almost a hurricane-force extratropical cyclone at unusual low-latitudes. Tropical transition is very rare in this basin, but Dolphin did successfully.

Do they use other animal names? I could see a Typhoon Dragon or Wolf.

There was Typhoon Longwang which means ‘dragon king’.
