I'm seeing reflectivities on Tampa radar of about 65 kt at 7,000 feet or so. That probably supports an intensity of about 55 kt right now.

Andrea appears to be tracking a bit south of the official track. it will be interesting to see what the 11 am track looks like. BTW the view out of the office window in pinellas county has been great. and a free car wash too compliments of mother nature.

I'm doubting hurricane status, only because of the water temps in the Big Bend area are marginally near 80 degrees, not quite at most meters. Either way somewhat impressive system.

I wouldn't go that far to say she looks beautiful, but very decent for an early June tropical system since I don't expect too much this early in the season. If it does track more south and east, could those up north (Mid-Atlantic) be spared the heavier rains?

That better be a "dry spot"! :uarrow:

So what is the thinking about Andrea, not liking the latest trends see and read about her on this forum(the best BTW). Hope Northeastern/North Central Florida will not be getting nasty weather like Tampa-West Coast Florida-Southeastern Florida is getting now and had been getting from Andrea. Have to go to Gainesville today(darn heart), just lovely. Hope all goes as well as can be, prayers to all.

There have been many storms become low scale Cat 1 Hurricane in SSTs in the upper 70s in the Atlantic, it does not have to be 80 or higher. You get a system embedded in a warm & moist tropical environment is some times enough.

sun has been making an appearance for brief periods the last few hours, atmosphere in sofla seems to be responding with increased activity, although there is more then enough juice without heating, a truly tropical setup in place for the peninsula today, should be active all day with this next round of energy rotating in

I'm here in Gainesville, and right now it's nothing but rain, rain, rain. Be careful on the roads. People in this town tend to underestimate these storms.

Convection diminishing around the center. Hopefully this is the end of any intensification.

Looking to be jogging a bit E of forecast track, but still unlikely to be a direct Tampa hit ... rather further north. Here in northern Palm Beach County, we had some pretty steady rain and a reported tornado touchdown in the Acreage community. But otherwise, nothing too crazy by me. Not sure if that second major band will push this far east but hopefully going to enjoy a few hours of mild cloudiness only (and possibly a bit of sun) between now and then. Looks like Andrea is definitely going to be a typical June system ... just a question of if it can make borderline Cat 1 before landfall.

I think the winds will be stronger than 60 mph on the next advisory.

Not thrilled about the tail band forming in the FL straits though. That's going to smack into SFL this afternoon.

My dad is scheduled to drive from Naples to Fort Lauderdale around 3pm. Might tell him to wait out the storms.
