Anyone heard about Vonage?

#1 Postby Guest » Sat Sep 06, 2003 11:12 pm

This company claims to offer unlimited long distance for $39.99 per month. If I'm understanding it correctly, it connects to your DSL modem via a router. So you're dialing through your computer but using your regular phone. Anyone heard about this or have tried it? I'm considering it, but I'm not sure. Here's a link to the website: http://www.vonage.com/index.php
Thanks!

I saw the Vonage commercial once... on Friday. I thought it was silly. I don't know what to think.

I hear cable Internet is better than DSL (at least that's what the guys who were installing cable Internet at my work last week said; but of course they'd saqy that  ). I am quite happy with my DSL, except that it lags some after about 10 minutes of fast surfing. :( I hope cable Internet doesn't do that.

I am not sure if my cable internet service doesn't appear to some after 10 minutes of fast surfing. As you know, Joshua (and a few others), my computer has on and off issues (not as bad as they were for just over a month).

I have never heard of Vonage. But, it sounds alot like GrapeVine. I have not had any hidden charges anywhere and I talked for 500 minutes last month long distance and did not get charged. I thought there might be a catch to the unlimited long distance, but turns out there isn't. They do not offer broadband services yet, but they hope to have it soon.

I have all the extra services included in my package that Bellsouth charges me extra for each month. I was paying way over 100 bucks every month with Bellsouth, including long distance. Now I only pay 50 a month.

Now, if we can just get some competition to drive down the cable rates. lol.
