Uh-oh, look out Texas Panhandle! If my memory is correct, the Heat Miser said something like this a week or two ago.

And one 19-inch blizzard ago! :)

I said no more snow for Dallas/Ft. Worth about 2 weeks ago, not for the panhandle.

Yeah, I know. But I couldn't resist taking a swipe at the Heat Miser bear coming out of hibernation! And I will not throw the towel in for north of I-20 until March 20th! :)

Here's to another great winter next season! Or maybe a few March specials! Time for this optimistic poster to dive into the enso thread and look for hope where it is wanted come spring and summer!

North of I-20, still too early my friend...

Agree, I expect more snow up in Kansas/Nebraska and into the Dakotas. Could be a significant east coast snow storm next Wed/Thu.

I'm liking the pattern change indicated by the 8-10 day Euro prog. Nice ridge over Texas (trof to west) would mean a significant warm-up.

For DJF and meat of winter. By no means am I giving up anomolous snow/cold for March. Nothing better than putting wxman in miserable/unexpected chill when he's supposed to be getting his 80s :cheesy:

Thank you for the kind comments, Ntxw! I’m going to send kudos right back to you for the great effort you did this “winter” season to keep the thread alive with good information, good discussion, and a sense of humor. While I’m sad to see you throw in the towel, I can understand. The PWC will remain open for another week or two after our premature closing. We have a lot to work on for next season in the hopes that we can deliver a lot more winter excitement for Storm2K members in their locales.

I think we all are hoping for a spring filled with thunderstorms and plentiful rainfall and a summer with frequent tropical storms, TUTT lows, and inverted troughs!

That's another thing I always miss in the winter - thunderstorms and towering cumulus clouds. I've measured about 3" of rain in January and another 3" this month, but I don't recall any thunder. Perhaps we will see some towering cu and thunderstorms by mid March.

57....you are always welcome here on the warm wet Mississippi Gulf Coast. We cherish the warmth here. If you are ever persona non grata in Texas or feel persecuted by the abominable snow Texans come on over!

Hopeful this cold will be the last gasp of winter this next week or so. Ready to plant my tomatoe plants.......MGC

Now isn't that the SAME Euro model that isn't very trustworthy more than three or four days out when it's showing COLD weather and SNOW potential for Texas? LOL! :D

He's ALREADY persona non grata in Texas (on this thread at least).

But we love him too much and respect his knowledge too much to send him into exile.

Yet, anyway! 8-)

Y'all need to check out the 18z GFS run. Look at what it shows the period around March 9-10 for Texas!

I see that Portastorm, looks good if it were about three days out and we could see it on the horizon!

This has no bearing on our weather I just found it interesting to see such a figure on a map from the NAM, look at Greenland. Is that 1092mb?

Yeah, I'll put my money on the 10-day forecast by the 18Z GFS any time! 10-day Euro has a band of snow across Kansas. Later GFS runs are shifting in that direction. Probably a lot more reasonable. 00Z Euro does have a big upper low over south-central AZ at day 10.

Now there's no need to be ugly about this! All I was doing was pointing out a particular model run which I had a lot of confidence in.

How are you doing on getting me my thunderstorms?

Not having a lot of luck developing thunderstorms across Texas over the next week. Possibly in 10-12 days if the Euro's upper low pans out. But it's going to be hard to get much moisture over Texas with NW flow at most levels. An extended period of deep Gulf flow would help you considerably, and it would provide me with some much-needed warmth.

Yes it would, so that won't happen.

But no, we get either get a dry NW flow, or a baking hot dry SW flow with a CAP of impenetrable epic strength, there's really no in between for us.

The only words that come to mind are godforsaken and desertification.

12Z Euro lifts out upper low across northern NM in 10 days, producing some snow across the NW TX Panhandle as it tracks to the NE.

No, I'm not deviating from my stance that models aren't very good beyond 3-4 days, but the 12Z GFS says no rain in the next week.
